If you're looking for another relaxing, comfy, and stress-free watch, then "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level!" is the show for you. # __Story: 6__ Starting off with its __story__, this show is another isekai fantasy with our main character, Azusa, getting sent into another world after being overworked to death. There, she becomes "The Witch of the Highlands" by, as the title says, killing slimes for 300 years, eventually maxing out her level and becoming the strongest. But hear me out, this isn't an isekai about defeating an evil entity: it's a show about simply enjoying everyday life. From there, the story doesn't derive too much as Azusa makes new friends and develops a "familial" bond with them, tries out things in your usual fantasy setting, and basically anything else you can think of that is generally relaxing and doesn't cause stress. It's a simple and kind of a generic premise, but the show pulls it off well with decent comedy with its characters. And speaking of charcters... # __Characters: 7__ Azusa gradually gets used to her role as the strongest witch in the world by helping out people and trying out new things with her powers, and with that, comes a cast of lovable and adorable __characters__ of different backgrounds. As Azusa offers her help in resolving the problems of the cast when they initially meet, the cast eventually grows attached to Azusa, leading to her forming a family of a red dragon, two slime spirits, an elf, a demon, a ghost, and a blue dragon, all of which have their own quirks and personalities. While they don't necessarily develop into complex characters, a lot of the characters, even outside the family, slowly but surely change for the greater good, which make the family bond that they share with Azusa all the more sweet and precious. # __Art: 5__ Probably the weakest point of the show. Nothing much to say here, except for the fact that the __animation__ of this show is adequate for a show with a relatively simple premise. There's nothing bad about the background art, character design, or the animation, but they don't really stand out or aren't particularly mind-boggling, as they are mostly meant to bring out the cute and wholesome vibes that this show has. All in all, it's neither bad nor amazing; the art simply does its job well-enough. # __Sound: 8__ Now we get into what I think is the best and most memorable part of the show: its __sound__. When you watch the show, a lot of sound effects that you'd typically never mind or just gloss over, are replaced with voices that imitate those sound effects. It's kind of hard to put it into words, so just try watching episode 1 and listen carefully when Azusa is doing literally anything. Sound effects like "bounce, bounce" are recreated by the voice actors, which, while subtle, adds a lot to the comedic experience. Speaking of voice actors, Aoi Yuuki (Azusa) is carrying the show on her shoulders, with witty line delivery that effectively brings her character to life. Other voice actors, like Yukari Tamura, Kaede Hondo, and the others were also a treat to listen to as all of them did a great job voicing the supporting cast. Lastly, the soundtrack, which is probably the least memorable part of this portion. Like the anime's art, it's not terrible nor is it stellar. There's an episode focused on singing, where the characters perform different songs based on their personalities, but that's about the only thing worth noting in terms of music. Oh, and the mini commercial break music that plays in the middle of each episode was nice as well. Overall, it's alright. # _Final Thoughts:_ With a season so packed with many new anime (Spring 2021), there's bound to be shows that go under the radar, and unfortunately, this show is one of them. However, if you are feeling like you need more wholesome and stress-free shows to watch, then this show fits the bill completely. While nothing too special and kind of forgettable, "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level!" effectively makes its viewers feel cozy and relaxed with a simple yet sweet story and a cast of lovable and adorable characters. Check this slice-of-life fantasy show out, and I guarantee that you are bound to leave with your body swelling with nothing but happiness. __Score:__ (6.5/10)
So you have some time to kill, and want to get over your latest super depressing anime. Then you have found the correct choice. Another show in the long list of cute characters having fun, the stakes are non-existent and you know nothing ever will go wrong. No death, no destruction, no issues, just happy adorable characters. Honestly, it doesn’t have a ton to say about it. This isn’t a deep show that requires in depth discussion. A story, it exists, but I wouldn’t say it actually matters. The whole premise is super simple, incredibly overpowered character is a loner for many years. And suddenly adopts two girls who call themselves her daughters, and the family begins. From there the cast continues to grow and they have silly adventures. Each one ending with ether more characters joining the family, joining the main rotating cast, or honestly being forgotten about after a couple minutes. One thing everyone shares in common, they are all cute female characters that are enjoyable to watch. And really, that is what this show is actually about. Watching these characters interact and have fun together. Get into adorable high jinks together and have some minor adventures. I can’t even say they grow all that much over the course of the show. They have small arcs during their episode, and occasionally will grow and change during another episode. But for the most part, they are pretty static. And for this style show, I don’t have any complaints about that. I do have one complaint though, the visuals are kinda distractedly bad. Not in a bad CGI way, I don’t think they even have CGI in the show. No, the whole thing just looks incredibly low res even at 1080p, which we all know is actually 720p upscaled, but for this show it looks even worse. You can easily sit down and count how many pixels make up characters. I really hope the show gets some proper upscaling for the blu-ray release to help the issue. Otherwise, it looks fine. it fits the characters and style of the show just fine. Won’t be winning any awards, but it all fits very well. Surprisingly occasionally we to end up with an actual fight scene. And for those it does have some pretty smooth and well done visuals, I really didn't expect that at all. Something I do love is the sound effects. The show is really good at adding little sound effects to enhance what the characters are doing. Little boops and dings, just super minor things. But they work really well and really enhance the scenes when they get used. So if you want a fun and enjoyable time. Just relax and chill after work, or a depressing show. You found the right place. Adorable characters having a good time interacting each episode, with essentially no conflict or worries.
Well, this comedy harem isn't anything new, we get plenty of shows like that, which of course include fan service. You get a girl of any type you like: twins lolis, big breasts dummy, cute girl who is shy, a dominant demon, cute girl who tries to look tough and more, well, you will find a girl of your type for sure. The story, well, there is no story. You already know the story if you read the title that is enough, afterward is just some daily life of the Witch Of The Highlands which are, unsurprisingly boring. Yes that's right, in most of the episodes the plot was boring imo, and the jokes as well. This is a comedy so the story isn't complex, but the jokes are that funny as well, yes the first 3 episodes are good but that's it, you don't get anything else afterward and it seemed to me that sometimes they tried to make something more complex and with that, they lost the time to make more jokes, which made it worse since the story isn't good, and there is no comedy which makes me numb. I would recommend this show to anyone that likes these light funny cute shows, even if there aren't really lots of good jokes, and they mostly try to make it cute. I know that there are people who like to simp over anime girls, that's fine idc, but I like to watch shows that don't focus on fan service, they could at least make it funnier and make the accent on the comedy aspect. Even worse is when they try to make so drama and story, nobody asked for this and no one needs this, so this is a total middle show which I won't remember for long, but also I can't find anything really bad about it. That sounds weird after all I said, but it's not actually bad, I just tried to explain what kind of anime this is, and why I don't like it, but looking at it from the perspective of what it is, there were no downsides since you get what you desire: cuteness, fan service, jokes based on the girls personality, basically, a common harem comedy. Production wise it was middle as well, you will notice the chip animation in every episode but it's not something that will ruin your experience so don't worry about that, the little fighting scenes we had felt not bad, they got it good with the fact that all the heroes are super strong and fast so they just dissaper or finish a fight with one blow, that's not a new technique anyway, but it wasn't bad. The design of the main cast is good, by good I mean you will find at least someone to simp over. Overall my score is 5/10, because as I said it's the total mid. There was nothing that was interesting to me, I can't say I was with blank face every episode, I had some fun sometimes, especially in the begging and the only time I thought it was cute was the last episode, yet still, these moments were so little, that I don't remember them, and I don't want to judge the whole season for just the last episode, which made me score it 6/10 at first, I made it lower after rethinking about everything. I don't really watch this kind of show much, but If you like shows with lot of different girls in the main cast, that are cute and wholesome, well, not all are exactly this but personally, I liked them more: https://anilist.co/anime/21776/Kobayashisan-Chi-no-Maidragon/ basically the same but better, MC is a girl who keeps random girls in her house, well they are dragons but still. But, this was is way better in all the aspects: jokes, cuteness, story, character design. https://anilist.co/anime/99426/Sora-yori-mo-Tooi-Basho/ Here you get cuteness, in the genres it says comedy but it's more focused on the drama, the story is very good and will leave you to think about it after the watch. https://anilist.co/anime/103900/Bokutachi-wa-Benkyou-ga-Dekinai/ Now, this is a very fan service focused show, a lot of rude humor and situations, like the MC getting to women bath and etc. This was at least funny, though they don't focus on the cuteness so, yeah. https://anilist.co/anime/113418/Super-Cub/ Just a cute slice of life, no fan service, and no comedy, so this is pretty far from the anime I reviewed, but if you want something cute, you can try it.
TL;DR __Pros__ - Characters are very appealing visually ~!(I love loli Azusa)!~ - Nice Humor - Omae wa mou shinderu - Very colorful visuals that works like a charm - Sound effects __Neutral__ - Episodic with not much of an overarching plot - Some fanservice (Particularly Ep. 3, and some parts of 8 and 11) __Cons__ - Much of the premise is generic (this is the 4th Slime-themed anime in 12 months + being an Isekai) - Very thin character development over the 12 episodes - Ridiculously long title :P Long Version: Slime 300 is another Isekai with Slimes being a main theme. Oh boy, how many anime have we seen with this combo in the past 12 months. We already have By the Grace of the Gods, Tensura Slime and Slime Diaries. This is the 4th anime with this combination. What makes this anime different? The MC, Azusa Aizawa is ridiculously OP thanks to grinding for 300 years and the fact 90% of the population of the world is female. Yeah, the premise of the anime is I guess inspired by Tensura Slime on the first episode alone. I think the reason this anime is slightly slept on is because of its genre and theme being done to death for the year. The plot mostly consists of the MC helping people after the events of knowing that she is max level. The other characters do a semi-decent job in separating themselves. There is a red dragon maid, 2 slime lollis, a dumb blonde elf that is screaming fan service, a demon, a ghost, and a blue dragon maid. After their episodes, they kinda blend in with the background. Character development is kind of thin. It's mostly on the Character of the Day and they only have 1 episode to have that. There is a lesson on every episode in one way or another. Nothing groundbreaking however. What it excels on is the looks, the atmosphere and some of the comedy. The anime looks fine. Very colorful. It is also very comfy and laid back. Well, not as much as Laid Back Camp which I think is ok. Voice acting is good in both English and Japanese. If I have to nitpick, it's Ep. 11. It's something to do with how the VAs handle a certain character in a certain state (Spoilers if I tell you who is affected). It's a small annoyance but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. The comedy works here. The funniest parts are the one when they exaggerate certain actions. Not all jokes land though. The music and sound is at best decent. It's neither good nor bad to be honest. Honorable mention is the sound effects. They replaced real sounds with a human imitating the sound which makes it somewhat funny. This anime is a lot of fun to watch. If you want an anime that isn't plot heavy, somewhat laid back and set in a Dragon Quest-like world, you should watch this. Though if you have watched a lot of Isekai anime, this does not break new ground at all and should skip this. Maybe I could have put a more positive opinion if it wasn't in the middle of the slime-themed Isekais. Despite all that, I would like a Season 2 of this anime since there's still material that isn't adapted yet and it is still ongoing. __Best Episode:__ Ep. 2, 11 (Sucker for cute things) __Worst:__ Ep. 3 (Fanservice) __Story:__ 5/10 __Characters:__ 5/10 __Art & Animation:__ 8/10 __Music:__ 7/10

WRITING - Average ( 6 )
We start with a very niche plot, our mc is a 27yo female corporate slave who overworks herself and passes out during office hours. She wakes up to... well, she doesn't. Instead, she is greeted by an angel-godlike creature who gets Aizawa Azusa reincarnated into an immortal witch with the looks of a 17yo. Pretty generic reincarnation-isekai themes.
PRESENTATION - Amazing ( 8.5 )
This is the carry here, without presentation this show would have been real shit. It's weird because to pull off a good Iyashikei; art style, music, etc. matter the most. This can make or break a show, in this case, it definitely boosted it like tenfold. The character themes are very generic: the demon, the dragon, the elf, the witch and __the loli__. Every character is just default setting for their field except for the loli, which ARE lolis and they just don't look young they are literal children...
AMBIENCE - Amazing ( 8.5 )
I always found myself walking out of a session in a good mood. I think the Iyashikei played a huge role in this show that just made me smile and keep on watching as it relieved a lot of the anxiety filled up inside me.
BIAS (10)
No review is compete without a bias, lucky for me I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW. I am so excited for s2 and am trying to control my urge to start the light novel.
FUN FACTS
I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level was adapted by studio REVOROOT from the 2017 Light Novel. This show was the first boom for studio REVOROOT.
RECMOMMENDATIONS
Recommendation Score - 9 / 10 I would definitely recommend [Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid](https://anilist.co/anime/21776/Miss-Kobayashis-Dragon-Maid/) which shares a lot of the slice of life and fantasy elements. The reincarnation concept with almost no humans feels somewhat similar to the concept of Kobayashi as a singular human stuck in between a lot of dragons whom she is unfamiliar with. I would also recommend [Little Witch Academia (TV)](https://anilist.co/anime/21858/Little-Witch-Academia-TV/) since it just shares the witchy and magical parts of it very loosely but it feels very close in the wholesome abience.
Overall Score - 8.25/10
