Historically, 72% of all the deaths in London are related to dragons, fantastical beings invisible to
the majority of the people. While unknown to most, some people have been standing up to these
dragons.
Only inhabitants of Reverse London who live in the hidden "reverse" side of London can see the
dragons. Even then, only a selected few become qualified enough as witches or wizards to make direct
contact with them.
The protagonists of the story are witch duo Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. They are protection
agents for Wing Bind (WB), an organization for dragon conservation and management. Their mission is to
protect and manage the dragons within London on behalf of the people.

I have been waiting for this to drop since it was announced, i have watched most of the bleach episodes from the anime and i read the entire manga not so long ago actually. So i have a pretty fair understanding of this mans narrative and artistic style and im pretty familiar with what kind of treatment his work has received in the past. This adaptation for Burn the Witch is stylish, colorful, fluid, fun, well animated and with a soundtrack that does a great job at conveying that Kubo style and in adding depth to what we are being shown. Its supposedly a movie but as it is divided in three parts im kinda confused as to what i should call it, so if im to reffer to it once again ill just call it a series. In an era where there seems to be a serious case of repetition in animes artistic styles, im glad to say that this series feels pretty unique and fresh. Not just for the setting (which is pretty exceptional on its own right as it is a magical interpretation of London but not entirely fantastical, its still is the london that we know in real life) and captivating character designs that Kubo is known for, but also for the style of animation. The lines on these characters are so damn clean looking, and each movement is so clear, natural and agile that its just a visual delight. Theres also plenty of scenes that i can recall with striking color palettes, which is always a plus and something that i personally appreciate. From a soundtrack perspective, i loved how well it accompanied all of the episodes and it really helped to build the excitement in the most intense scenes. This is a pretty exciting and fast paced series, there is some quiet time and time to breathe in between scenes. But just as a scene can start to feel even a bit boring or still BOOM, something happens and the characters jump to the action. Which is something that i deeply appreciate being that its only 3 episodes, it would be awful to see that they wasted the little time they had to tell a story in boring dialogues, but they didnt! quite the opposite! And that allows for an entertaining anime that will keep you going until the very end... ...An end that isnt exactly satisfactory or with much of a sense of closure, but its there and it works. Its not that its bad, its just that more could have been done. As i have stated before, this is the Kubo style. And everyone who has experienced Bleach from beginning to end knows how he ended that manga in a pretty unfulfilling way, so this is just him showing that he has yet to become better at giving closure to his stories. But, you should take this criticism with a pinch of salt. As this is an adaptation of a one shot and im not exactly sure about how fair it is to say this about a one shot. Now, the criticism that i can make is that while i enjoyed both female protagonists, liked their chemistry and saw a bit of development in their relationship... i feel like more could have been done when it comes to character development, cuz there were some nice things that were setted up in episode 2 but didnt really pay off in any interesting way for the ending. Which is kind of a shame, since there was even a character with a kind of imposter syndrom case which i found super interesting and that could end up leading to something interesting but in the end it amounted to nothing. Again, this also happened in bleach and it makes me worried that Kubo might still be the same kind of writer that he was when he worked on that series. There is supposedly going to be a sequel of burn the witch after the release of this series, i seriously hope we see an evolved Kubo with an improved writing style that shows us more of what he did back in the Souls Society arc and less of what he did in, for example, the Fullbringer arc.
Oh shit bros Kubokino is back on the menu and we eatin good toniiiiiight. Burn The Witch is a short anime that's basically a direct one to one adaptation of the one shot of the same name by Bleach author and artist Kubo sensei, AKA literally the David lynch of manga. Not only is the animation great, the character designs are better. Bruno is a mega hunk and anyone who disagrees can, and is obligated to forfeit their human rights to me a small fee. I want to be Bruno, I literally want to be Bruno irl and have ordered a custom printed jacket to get closer to that goal. Aside from that there are the girls, who are the two Kubo female archetypes, Brat and Mommy. I don't care much for Mommy, she is a boring character and her tits are big. The Brat is epic and has personality, and much better legs and voice. In some shots you can see her legs, this is what we in the industry refer to as "sex appeal," it's an appeal to the sexual drive of humans , the drive to reproduce, to breed. It's a primordial lizard brain thought that we as a species simply can not escape from. In that sense, Brat is a sex character, but in another sense she is the obvious ship with Bruno. Bruno X Brat is the otp of Burn the Witch, mommy can have her cuck beta male I don't give a shit. I want to be Bruno, and I want my gf to be the Brat with a funny magic gun. In real life witches do not have guns and I believe this to be a huge missed opportunity for some added sex appeal in the world of the occult. In fact, occultism as a whole has been sorely lacking in sex and drugs and rock and roll as of late. I support only the "sex" portion of that list but it's very important nontheless. Here's the plot of Burn the Witch. Introduction scene. Sex Sex Sex Sex Sex. Cool dragon scene. Sex SeX Sex. Cool old guy, then the show's over. Kubo works on the rules of cools in the same way as Micheal Bay, who directed Transformers. The full title being Transformation Automotors, based on the hit japanese series Transformers Kiss Players, the world's first robot kissing porn. Burn the Witch follows this trend of sex appeal and kissing and sex and appeal (separate form sex appeal) but it misses the mark majorly because none of the female characters show their bare feet even once. I wanna sniff sniff Brat, I wanna hug Brat, and I wanna steal $20 from Brat's wallet so she'll track me down and step on me. Burn the Witch is not only good, it's double good. Fantastic directing contributes to a feeling of grandeur and wonderous fantasy, but most importantly to the very real sexual tension between Bruno (me) and Brat. Only wish it was longer so that the full 2 hour sex scene I know is happening offscreen could happen onscreen.

But anyway, long review short: Good Adaptation of a Terrible story with some minor mistakes. ~~~__Mata na.__~~~ Desde que as produções animadas em torno de alguma obra de Tite Kubo foram encerradas como resposta ao que veio se tornar como um cancelamento disfarçado de final justo e bem pensado, os fãs e não fãs - traduz-se também como "haters", porque na Internet só existe o "eu to certo" e o "você é um pau no cu" - sequer se questionavam sobre uma possibilidade de Tite Kubo voltar a produzir alguma obra, ou pouco menos que iriamos ter uma animação relacionada a qualquer coisa relacionada a seus trabalhos anteriores ou possíveis milagres atuais. _Well, Guess What?_ Julho de 2018 nos presentearia com um One Shot publicada dentro da trigésima terceira edição especial da revista semanal do _Jovem Pulo_, onde parabenizaria também os autores que estiveram ao lado da revista durante tanto tempo, constando uma homenagem a Kubo que retornaria dentro dessa homenagem. Porém, pouco nós sabíamos - pouco a própria Shonen Jump sabia - que Kubo daria seu pulo do gato e pregaria uma peça em nós e na revista. Burn the Witch se tratava de um Spin-Off em One Shot de Bleach, apresentando um mundo dentro da realidade criada na obra anterior e que, meses depois, seriamos surpreendidos com um evento comemorando o aniversário de Bleach onde traria a notícia de que Burn the Witch na verdade ganharia uma serialização porém em moldes diferente do que nós estamos acostumados, entregando um pequeno arco de três capítulos lançados simultaneamente. A Qualidade da história era o que nós tínhamos recebido anteriormente: construção de um mundo onde apenas o Kubo conhecia e esquece que ele está escrevendo uma história para desconhecidos, exposição pela proposta do dicionário, contextualização do irreconhecível e ilógico, desconsideração pela compreensão de leitura do leitor, personagens que não são personagens mas apenas estereótipos pela proposta de representarem apenas uma ideia de estereótipos, e o topo da cereja no bolo era o desejo forte do Kubo de vender duas protagonistas: uma insuportavelmente e outra da qual ele está realmente convencido de nos vender como a mulher mais gostosa do mundo que mostra a calcinha ao findar do One-Shot. Za Warudo é pequeno, né? Porque coincidências costumam ocorrer de forma demasiada com o Kubo. Por que estou falando isso? Sabe o evento comemorando o aniversário de Bleach? Ele também trazia novidades sobre animações de obras do Kubo. _O Plural é proposital._ Nós teríamos uma adaptação episódica do último arco de Bleach, tal qual uma animação episódica de Burn the Witch, que traria os três exatos capítulos que viriam em formato fechado. Eis que chegamos em Outubro de 2020. Recebemos a adaptação e cá estamos nela, após assistir (ou fingir que assistiu e saiu lendo reviews alheias... ou na verdade só lendo o título, porque a internet é rápida demais para ler um conteúdo por inteiro) e absorver o que quer que tenham nos aprontado. E devo dizer... ~~~__É uma ótima adaptação.__~~~ ~~~_Não que isso signifique alguma coisa._~~~ A Animação foi feita pelo estúdio que vocês viram aí (porra, antes de clicar aqui tem uma página no canto esquerdo, lê ai e vê quem animou) e eu devo dizer que dado o orçamento do qual eles foram dados, eu posso dizer de forma segura que cada página e cada execução visual do mangá está transposta exatamente da forma como Kubo visionou. Traços à parte, devo dizer que gostei bastante da direção entregue pela animação, pois ela corresponde exatamente bem a experiência visual que é ler Burn the Witch. Os enquadramentos se mostram extremamente respeitosos a obra original e, aumentando ainda mais os valores da produção, uma salva de palmas para as escolhas das vozes e as interpretações entregues, pois eles vendem exatamente os personagens que ouvimos (imaginamos ouvir) durante a leitura. Os combates ganharam ainda mais personalidade do que no mangá - se bem que infelizmente mangá hoje em dia, no que diz respeito a lutas, eles vivem a serviço de anime - e é interessante ver isso transposto em uma ótima utilização de cores. Os aspectos vitorianos em tomadas coloridas e chores as vezes um pouco mais saturadas, outras mais brilhantes, e essas brincadeiras realizadas com a ambientação geral é bem interessante de se ver na parte técnica. ~~~Porém, é aquele negócio... e a História, né? Continua __bem ruim__.~~~ Kubo tinha uma história em sua mente e queria reproduzi-la, assim como todo roteirista. Uma história parece ter acontecido na sua cabeça, e na hora de transpor essa narrativa ele esquece que nós não conhecemos essa história e os personagens, o mundo, seus relacionamentos e conhecimento de causa não são de nosso - wait for it - __conhecimento__! E isso continua até o final da história. As protagonistas servem seus estereótipos e são a mesma nota do começo ao final, nenhum arco de aprendizado é realizado, os diálogos não são naturais e se prestam apenas ao serviço da exposição, não existe comunicação sobre causa e consequência, não existe comunicação sobre conhecimento, entendimento, características visuais ou auditivas que nos façam compreender sobre quem são esses personagens, suas funções narrativas além de servirem à um estereótipo... é tudo vazio. Beira o desrespeitoso, eu diria. ~~~_Tal qual o Kubo sempre fez_.~~~ Resumo da Opera: Ótima adaptação... ... _infelizmente_.
As someone who has never consumed a Tite Kubo work before reading Burn the Witch, this whole work was such a breath of fresh air in so many different ways. The banger characters designs and outfits, the intriguing nature of the setting, the character motivations, the worldbuilding, and on and on I could go naming the things that make Burn the Witch so interesting and captivating for me. Does Burn the Witch do things that no anime has ever done before? No, but it does what it sets out to accomplish and does it well. It took a mildly confusing volume with three chapters and an insane amount of info dumping and turned it into a cohesive and intuitive 60 minute movie. I felt like I had a much stronger grasp on what was going on with the world and the background info that was brought to light in this movie compared to reading the first volume, so whatever Studio Colorido trimmed and condensed was perfect, in my opinion. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I paid very much attention to the soundtrack, but what I recalled was pretty decent, at least nothing super weird or off-putting. The ending song was really good, especially combined with the visuals. Other than that, the sound design was pretty good, nothing special, but certainly not worth pointing out as a detractor. The voice acting was really good though, with Ninny and Noel sounding exactly as I'd expect them to. As I mentioned in the intro, the character designs are so good. There's so much personality packed into Burn the Witch, even to the abundant use of color without appearing gaudy and overbearing. Of course, the superb animation backs up the visual style tremendously, as Burn the Witch is one of the best animated series I've watched in a while, its short run time being the biggest credit for that most likely. The action sequences are beautiful, especially the one in the final episode, but beyond even that, emotions are so carefully painted on our characters through the animation. Blonde haired female characters are my weakness, as anyone who has been following these reviews could've predicted. Moreso than that though, Ninny felt like so much more than her trope of the classic brash, bold, and hotheaded main character. She, and every character in Burn the Witch, felt like actually people, with more dimensions that just one or two. They all have some kind of emotional complexity that transcends beyond their strong primary personality traits. I think Noel is the best illustration of this in this volume, but Ninny certainly has her character depth brought to light, albeit, more subtly presented. I'm not sure if there are any true negatives to Burn the Witch to really touch on. I could say that Balgo is a rather annoying addition, especially because he feels more like just a walking trope, even though it's obvious that he'll have a large role in the future (and hopefully some growth beyond the idiot comic relief.) I think you could probably say that a first time watcher would be extremely confused with all the names and systems getting dropped like its nothing, because despite me saying that it was much easier to follow in the anime adaptation, I was already exposed to the general ideas of the world and therefore had a fundamental grasp on the world. And the biggest negative of them all: there isn't more to watch. There's so much more to explore within Burn the Witch's story that they only just set up in this first volume, and I think that's what makes this so intriguing and why I'm so excited to read/watch where this goes in the future. There's so much potential here, that I'm genuinely considering watching all the way through bleach just so that I don't miss anything about this in the future. Consider me a fan.

Their interactions are generally in the form of exposition, but it's entertaining to watch since their personalities shine through in the details they or don't focus on. The two have a lot of chemistry together. Even little things like Ninny complaining about BBC announcing on their behalf is endearing. The pacing is immaculate and no particular scene ever feels like it drags on for too long. The series even demonstrates some amazing comedic timing in the form of the introduction to the members of Wing Bind HQ. Panning back and forth to reveal a totally uninterested council (with one of it's members missing). The likelihood this sort of quality and creativity could be stretched for 12 episodes is quite unlikely. The final battle is absolutely gorgeous. A lot anime fall short by having action scenes that amount to a bunch of moving noise. Minha pergunta não foi respondida. O anime começa dizendo que dragões são animais grotescos, muita gente morre por causa dele, etc. Eu já fiquei em choque, o bagulho vai ser tenso... Não, não vai. Logo depois já alopram pra caramba, tudo é bonitinho, com dragões fofinhos e amigos, não condizendo nem um pouco com o começo do anime, mas beleza, fui seguindo. __A estória: __ Eu, honestamente, não gostei da estória. Achei muito avulsa, tudo clichêzão, com poderes e magias sem sentido. Não que isso deixe o anime ruim logo de cara, mas definitivamente não ficou legal em Burn the Witch, é legal o anime ter uma premissa meio mágica, é uma obra de dragões, a estória clama por isso. Entretanto, achei muito aloprado por parte do anime esse universo fantasioso até demais, tirou completamente a seriedade do anime. Porém, tudo bem, Kill la Kill é louco, nada faz sentido e tudo escrashado, mas ainda é divertido pra cacete... __Minha experiência:__ Eu achei um saco assistir Burn the Witch, ele quer ser sério com uma premissa e universo completamente boboca, surge um problema gigante que acaba com a cidade inteira do nada, a gente não sabe de nada que tá acontecendo e o anime quer que a gente fique impressionado, em choque, mas isso definitivamente não funciona. Tipo eu chegar pra você e falar: "Mano, essa não é uma betoneira qualquer... Exatamente isso que Burn the Witch faz... Não te situa em absolutamente nada. __O que salva (um pouco):__ Os personagens são carismáticos, dá pra gostar dos mesmos bem facilmente. Pensa que pika seria se existisse um anime cuja premissa principal seja lutar contra os dragões ou algo do tipo, usando uma paleta de cores escura, algo bem tenso. Que realmente trate com seriedade esse elemento "dragões são bichos perigosos e realmente matam" Imagina uma premissa assim na mão do Urasawa??? Eu chorava. Bem, foi basicamente isso. Realmente não curti esse anime, a palavra pra definir ele seria: "avulso" Se você se divertiu assistindo, entendo uma nota maior. Mas eu realmente não me diverti com o que estava passando na tela. Y aun así, todas quieren ser princesas” Esto es lo primero que escuchamos en Burn the Witch, un mensaje directo y crítico de parte de Ninny sobre la creencia popular de la magia y, mejor aún, un claro aviso de lo que estamos por ver, porque claro, la magia es peligrosa y quien lanza los hechizos es mejor que quien la pide… Y que mejor lugar para probarlo que el Londres “Reverso”, ese otro lugar en el que la magia existe y ser un Wing Bird es cosa seria, porque aquí los dragones están a la orden del día y porque como nos mostrarán nuestras protagonistas Ninny Spangcole y Noel Niihashi, dejarlos a sus anchas no es una opción y por ello están ellas. __~~~Un cuento lleno de caos y de dragones... ~~~ __ Y he aquí que Burn the Witch más que introducirnos gradualmente a su mundo, nos envuelve de lleno en el, y lo hace poniendo la mínima información necesaria para seguir el juego: Hay un lugar donde los dragones existen y son los malos de la historia, así que a por ellos!! Precipitado sí, pero no por ello malo, pues si esta obra tiene alguna gran virtud (al menos de momento) es el ritmo tan frenético que maneja. Porque Colorido opta por no dejarnos ni un minuto de calma y cautivarnos antes por su caos que por su historia. Y aquí es donde lucen sus 2 protagonistas, llevando la batuta y mostrándonos tanto su mundo como el objetivo que persiguen y en el camino, a aquellos personajes secundarios que demos por seguro, serán importantes a largo plazo. Pero volviendo a sus protagonistas, ellas son el dúo perfecto: Por un lado la rebelde y aguerrida Ninny, por el otro la calculadora y más calmada Noel, contrapunto una de la otra y excelentes complementos en batalla. Pero la pólvora no termina ahí y también tenemos a Bruno Bangnyfe y sobre todo a los dragones. Sí, esos seres que aquí son señalados como los malos del cuento y que, visto lo visto con la majestuosa Cinderella, provocarán más de un dolor de cabeza (y quien sabe si darán respuestas ocultas) nuestros protagonistas, cosa curiosa por cierto el que ahora la trama se centre en la magia y no en la parte divina (como en su predecesora). Me explico: para empezar, el segmentar la obra hace que en vez de considerarla como un todo (es decir como película) la tomemos como serie y esto invariablemente nos lleva a quedar bastante insatisfechos y con la sensación de estar viendo los episodios de 3/4 de temporada en vez de una presentación de la obra. Y a esto contribuyen como ya dije, tanto la poca cantidad de material fuente, como el ritmo narrativo de la película, empujándonos a la acción desde el minuto 1 y sin darnos antecedente alguno. Todo lo anterior eso sí, no logra opacar la adrenalina y el buen sabor de boca que nos quedará tras concluir su visionado. Sin embargo, si hay un punto que me pareció sobresaliente (aun con sus fallas) ese es la animación. Esto además, se ve acompañado por una gran variedad de expresiones características de cada una de las protagonistas y de fluidez en los movimientos de los personajes, principalmente de los humanos. (Expresiones de Ninny aparte). Y no solo eso pues el vestuario también destaca y asombra gracias a la tremenda gama de personajes distintos que hay, como los Top of Horns (representado muy bien en la secuencia de la mesa de mando). En cuanto a los escenarios, aun cuando no se muestra tanto, podemos decir que estamos ante la que será la mayor virtud de Burn the Witch una vez serializada. Y es que su universo es una auténtica delicia, desde su colorida paleta hasta su representación del Londres Reverso, todo está bien definido y lleno de detalles. Y esto se complementa perfectamente con el elemento más importante: los Dragones. Cosa interesante que los "principales" sean nombrados según los cuentos de hadas, lo cual garantiza diseños tan impresionantes como el de Cinderella. En definitiva, un trabajo técnico que quizá no destaque mucho de momento pero que promete bastante a futuro. El aspecto sonoro por otro lado es bastante adecuado tanto a nivel instrumental como en su pieza vocal. El OST, cortesía de __Keiji Inai__ (DanMachi) está repleto de canciones vibrantes y que encajan perfecto con la adrenalina de la obra, resaltando sobre todo los momentos de acción al tiempo en que los puntos dramáticos también salen reforzados y se aprecian como tal. The anime has an introduction and all the necessary elements to begin a plot, but by the time it's over, it feels like you've simply watched a bunch of episodes from the middle of a previously aired show. But the characters make it fun, atleast. Ninni and Noel are definitely the charm of the show. The tsundere senpai and the calm kouhei dynamic is a fun to watch and there is also an often-wonderful display of their relationship in some nice emotional moments. Balgo is only important for the sake of plot. He has little emotional depth which is overshadowed by his carefree lifestyle and perverse attitude towards Noel. Like, come on, ma boy. The world is filled with magic and dragons out there, and you are still going after a girl with big breasts. Macy is a bit emotionally unstable, and the anime takes some tonally different visual choices to express her issue, but a small-time limit and a forgettable backstory makes her hard to connect with. It turns out it originally was a film, only released in Japan as a one-hour film. Crunchyroll, however, had this strange idea to split the movie into three episodes, which creates this needless sense of anticipation for something great that, of course, never occurs. A significant event happens, but since there are only 3 episodes (or a 1-hour length), not much can be set up for an exciting climax. But the ED, however, is still a very chill song to vibe with. ____ #
