I began watching this anime because the trailer caught my attention before the season began, and I have never regretted any decision less than deciding to keep up with _'Tis Time For "Torture", Princess_. From episode 1 it stood out as a a solid gag comedy series, but I feared it would become repetitive rather quickly. To my surprise and utter delight, this show not only didn't let it's central gag get old, but it consistently built on the premise and iterated enough that I actually found my enjoyment growing with every passing episode. Beginning with such a simple premise, they began to drip feed us information to build out the world and its characters, and by the end I loved and cared about every single one in a way very few anime, let alone CGDCT have been able to do. The final episode actually got me to cry, because of how good a job _Torture Princess_ did at making me care about this band of dorks and weirdos. The main character, of course, is the titular princess, who has been captured by the Hellhorde and is being "tortured' for information about the imperial army. As you'll quickly find out though, the torture is actually closer to therapy sessions where our unnamed princess's childhood trauma and emotional hang-ups are addressed through the gimmicks of each daily session. These therapy sessions are administered by the Hellhorde's grand inquisitor Torture Tortura and her assistant, as well as the plethora of subordinates that come to help from time to time. Among them are the pair of close cousins Youki and Inki, the gyaru animal specialist Krall, and the Hell-Lord's daughter Mao-Mao, who mostly gets secrets unintentionally by being so cute. Each one of them, and several more gets some time to be fleshed out and developed as a character. And besides the surprisingly subtle character writing, this anime is also incredibly funny. It might seem like a bit of a one-trick pony at first(though to be fair that one trick is pretty damn funny), but it quickly starts to diversify its arsenal of jokes to incorporate everything from goofy slapstick and visual gags, to Code Geass references and expert subversions of expectation. I will say they never stop using the main gag of "princess says she won't give in; Eventually gives in" and that might grind on some people, but I think the ways it builds on that joke plus the myriad other jokes it layers in are enough that it stays entertaining all the way through. And none of this is to mention the colourful and energetic visuals Pine Jam has given, that absolutely elevate an already great show. It may not be for everyone, but I absolutely adore this show and struggle to find anything to complain about.
~~~This anime was certainly not what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be a super action packed, possibly gory/kinky anime. BUT NAH! IT IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE MOST WHOLESOME ANIME I'VE WATCHED! Also, this review is weirdly serious??? Like, not super serious, but eh.~~~ I found 'Tis Time when I went back into Crunchy's alphabetical anime list. I'm currently on an impossible mission to watch most of the anime on Crunchyroll. This was one that I hadn't watched, so I went ahead and clicked on it. Little did I know it would be one of the cutest and funniest anime I watched recently. We begin with a truly action packed beginning with the princess fighting a giant monster and stuff. Again, definitely made me think it was gonna be an action anime. Then it cuts to her very first torture session with Torture. With the iron maiden thingy there, I thought she was gonna go through some stuff. But then they bring out the food. And then the sword starts talking. And then I realized that I was sorely mistaken about the type of anime I was about to watch. I absolutely love how this anime reveals little bits and pieces of Hime's life with the flashbacks before her secrets. It's such an interesting way to flesh out a character and build the world. You learn a lot about this world just through the flashbacks and scenes outside of the jail. It also helps to show why such simple things like good food or friends work as a torture method on Hime. It shows how because she focused so hard on being this tough commander princess, that she missed out on such simple pleasures. Honestly makes me question their human world. Let the poor girl have friends and stuff! I also find it absolutely hilarious that they mention that she's a commander and has gone through so much hard stuff every episode to only have her crumble at the cutest things. I also really like how caring and kind the Hellhorde is. I love how the ones that world views as "monsters" treat their workers super well and have like normal lives and stuff. It's also really funny how some of the secrets don't work out for the Demon King because of some really normal reasons. And I love how supportive the king is of his underlings. The episode with the ninja gecko was adorable. And this big muscular, super strong man being super involved in his daughter's life is just super heckin cute! And he's so loving with his queen. Absolutely adorable! Get you a man who will be there for you and your family forever! All of the torturers becoming friends and all playing and hanging out together is so cute. And the little scene with Youki and Inki's high school days is so cute. I also love that the Demon King watches anime. And is like super into it. Everyone should be like the Hellhorde. Accept everyone as they are and be kind.
___4th wall broken___ One of the best points this anime had, was that they kept breaking the 4th wall over and over again. It was ridiculous! But it made for a great experience.
____This review contains spoilers. 'Tis time for noticing these.____
'Tis Time For Torture, Princess is an anime that it's full of torture, both in this anime, and in my
mind. With all of it's formulaic episodes, how bad can this anime be suited for torture? 'Tis time we
look at it.
# ____THE STORY: 6/10 ____
The formula of each episode contains in order, Tortura stating the torture, Hime not buying it cause
she'll state about how important she is, Hime then buying it and having overreactions to it,
confessing, and finally Maou telling Tortura to continue with the princesses torture. Rinse and repeat
for 12 episodes.
It's repetitive at it's finest, but all it boils down to is literally predictable and stale. Over time
the anime begins to show other subplots like Louch's attempts to cast a spell, but even that can get
old. Sure, repetitiveness can change the formula like in some media like the Pokemon anime or Phineas
& Ferb, but 'Tis Time takes it to the point of the brim that the princess reminds you that's she's the
commander of the Imperial Army so many times that you think you had the attention span of a goldfish.
Hime-sama goumon no jikan Desu conta a história da princesa confiável do reino, que é capturada pelo exercito do rei demônio e lá é colocada sobre as torturas mais cruéis da humanidade. __Comer, dormir e ser feliz sem trabalho duro. torturante.__ img220(https://i.imgur.com/0Uuh8Le.jpg) Brincadeiras a parte, este anime quando foi anunciado ano passado me assustou pela sua premissa complicada em que eu sequer sabia sobre o que esta obra ia fazer, SIM EU CAÍ NO BAIT. MAS MESMO ASSIM, o primeiro episódio me torturou! que tortura ver comida bonita em tela! Gosto muito do projeto da adaptação da Pine Jam, muito bem dirigido e produzido. a direção de áudio é perfeita, um acerto em cheio dessa produção, os designs em tela são lindos e muito expressivos, a produção não é nada muito gigante, porém é muito funcional! Sou muito fã dos episódios com o rei demônio, mostrando o lado fofo e otaku dele, sempre querendo provar a sua filha Maomao, que é o melhor pai que ela poderia ter. img220(https://lostinanime.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Himesama-22Goumon22-no-Jikan-desu-01-20.jpg) Meu acerto favorito da obra é que é muito fácil gostar dos personagens e tem um elenco diverso com um visual muito único para cada um. em específico sou muito fã da Tortura Torture, ela é linda, centrada e uma excelente máquina das piores torturas que o ser humano já viu. sou muito fã dela. img220(https://s4.anilist.co/file/anilistcdn/character/large/b151039-vt0PxphUMha7.jpg) a forma como a história sempre leva tudo ao extremo em seus momentos de tensão para serem quebradas com uma cena ridícula funciona muito. o relacionamento da princesa com todos os personagens é muito fofinho (menos o cavaleiro calvo em específico, eu tenho medo desse cara). img220(https://s4.anilist.co/file/anilistcdn/character/large/b328205-mjl3KRWEEFr9.png) eu sou muito fã da opening e ending desse anime, são visualmente agradáveis e as músicas são muito legais! youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-bGYOSc-UM) youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38-HaU1TRDY) Esse anime tem a vibe que precisa ter, e é bom por isso. Sua estética conversa com seus temas simples, sua comédia é engraçada e eu não consigo não gostar desse anime. é torturoso ver algo tão bom, é uma receita para coisa boa!!!! Eu sei que fiz essa review só agora mesmo tendo visto faz um tempo, mas não posso deixar de comentar que estou feliz que tenha sido anunciado uma nova temporada, tenho fresco em minha memória os melhores momentos que me divertem até hoje. Espero que esse projeto continue bom, e desejo que a próxima temporada chegue com força novamente tal qual sua primeira temporada.
