Animated adaptation of Level-5's Nintendo 3DS video game.
While going deeper into the woods one day, primary school student Keita Amano ('Nate' in the English
localisation) notices a bizarre capsule toy machine who tells him to insert money which he obeyingly
does. But after opening the capsule that came out, a ghostly creature named Whisper materialises.
Whisper, who was sealed inside the capsule, rewards his liberator Keita by becoming his Yo-kai butler
and gives him a Yo-kai Watch. Whoever wears the watch gains the ability to see supernatural creatures
called Yo-kai, each type possessing different kinds of magical abilities, and which are normally
invisible to humans. The Yo-kai Watch also allows the wearer to summon any Yo-kai they have
befriended, enabling the wearer to make use of the Yo-kai's powers. Using it, Keita and Whisper
encounter many mischievous Yo-kai around town, resolving the trouble they're causing and befriending
many at the same time.

However, it has its appeals that allow all age groups fall in love with it. From the art style to the wacky adventures, here are just some of the many charming elements of the _Yo-Kai Watch_ anime: ~~~★★★★★~~~ __The storyline! __ As an anime that was produced to air in weekly episodes, it was designed so that missing a few episodes here and there would not affect your experience with the story. The plot is not super intense or complicated, making it easy to follow, which is always a positive element if you are looking for something lighthearted. The first few episodes obviously provide background information for the basis of the show, though. Each episode guides you through a thrilling, cheerful adventure in the world of yokai. There are lessons of friendship and kindness all throughout _Yo-Kai Watch_, and every ending leaves you feeling refreshed. Along with the happy-go-lucky story of it, _Yo-Kai Watch_ offers hilarious gags and wacky scenarios. Much of this humor was written with the intended audience of children, but there are definitely moments that anyone can enjoy. ~!(assuming that everyone can appreciate fart-jokes)!~ ~~~★★★★★~~~ __The art style and ambience!__ With the bright color tones and bubbly character designs, every second of _Yo-Kai Watch_ provides you with simple eye-candy. This lively atmosphere that is communicated through the art contributes to the high-spirited vibe of _Yo-Kai Watch_. ~~~★★★★★~~~ __The characters!__ Every character in the show, yokai and human alike, has unique traits. The majority of the yokai depicted in the show connect to traditional Japanese folklore, and they are all based on elements from real life and folklore combined. ~!For example, Blizzaria (or Fubuki-hime), is based off of the Yuki-Onna.!~ Despite being yokai, every main character still has the mindset of a human, which once again adds to the important lessons that the show exemplifies. They make mistakes and learn from their experiences, as well as develop bonds with others. This makes the show perfect for children, as well as those of you who enjoy seeing pure and honest relationships between characters. ~~~★★★★★~~~ To conclude, I would recommend _Yo-Kai Watch_ to anyone who appreciates positive, feel-good anime. Even if it is not your cup of tea, it is definitely something to consider sharing with younger audiences you may know.
