~~~ __[LIGHT SPOILERS COVERED BY TAGS]__ #__Overview__ Right from the very first episode, Too Cute Crisis was filled with cats and laughter. Literally, right after I watched episode one, I copied the link and sent it to my cat-lover friends. Are you a cat person, or even own a fluffy feline yourself? You should watch Too Cute Crisis. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it. Aliens from far away in outer space with fancy futuristic sci-fi-worthy technology discover Earth one day. They decide to kill off all the planet’s inhabitants with poison gas–but wait. *What if there was something valuable to be found on Earth?* Liza Luna happens to be the lucky researcher sent down to investigate, to see if there was anything worth preserving on this low-tech planet or if they should go with the plan and destroy it all. At first, it all seems worthless…but then she walks into a cat cafe. And they are the cutest things she’s ever seen. So cute, in fact, that she nearly dies from it. The order to kill off all living things on Earth with poison gas vanishes, and Liza immediately begins conducting further research on cats and the many other cute animals native to this planet. Who knew aliens were so used to ugliness that they find our creatures deathly adorable? Yes, you read that right. The only thing that prevented Earth from an alien invasion and takeover… Our cute animals. #__The Good/Positive__ One of the things that stood out to me about this show was the comedy. I mean, you know it’s seriously up there if you find yourself with more than just some smiles, right? I don’t know about you, but I could actually laugh out loud at some points with how crazy it is. Normally I don’t take screenshots of anime to post here and there for humor, either. And yet, I did it quite a few times with Too Cute Crisis. The jokes made, the words said, and all the craziness…If you’re one of those people who actually enjoy insanity and such, you might like this. I use the word “might” so I don’t scare off people. Some examples: ~! img(https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1101508937594978445/1129213851729154210/IMG_20230607_214923.jpg) I liked making a meme with this to "roast" people !~ ~! img(https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1101508937594978445/1129213852249231471/Screenshot_2023-05-19-22-26-36-05_93753c020959de0ef194d6b95604fb93.jpg) img(https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1101508937594978445/1129213852521873539/Screenshot_2023-05-19-22-26-43-98_93753c020959de0ef194d6b95604fb93.jpg) I made a status post about this some time ago, but this was one of my favorite scenes :skull: !~ If you know me, you know I don't really put images or screenshots in my reviews…cause I don't take them. Too Cute Crisis happened to be a nice exception. So, I read a comment somewhere…Apparently Too Cute Crisis was produced by the same studio as [A Couple of Cuckoos ](https://anilist.co/anime/132052/A-Couple-of-Cuckoos/) and [Taisho Otome Fairy Tale, ](https://anilist.co/anime/127412/Taisho-Otome-Fairy-Tale/) which are animes I've watched that don't stand out that much to me. And yet Too Cute Crisis was pretty good (in my eyes). I think that fact stands for itself, don't you? This studio worked it well for this one. (Normally I don't pay attention to studios and such but that comment piqued my interest) I haven't really seen any other anime about cats and cute animals like this one. At least, not before this. Haven't really seen a show that makes aliens so comedic, either. Points added for something new to the mix. #__The Bad/Negative__ Things that weren't pulled off well, huh… Well, some might find it upsetting that Liza seems to think cats are the most superior pet. Or that the show generally seems to focus on cats and branches out to other cute animals and pets in the later episodes. I personally have no problem with this as a cat person…but if you happen to favor other animals and feel that they aren't represented enough…. 乁( •_• )ㄏ Try not to rage too hard, yeah? The art style *could* be improved on, and so could the animation. But considering the quality of the other works I've seen from this studio, art style and animation wise, I'd say Too Cute Crisis did it pretty okay for what it is. If the comedy was well executed, then you can't expect a whole lot from stuff like the art. At least that's my view on things…you get one thing or another, and this was satisfactory. When you look at it from a more logical (or something, idk the best word here) angle, the aliens' reactions to cuteness–no, even just regular Earth animals, are a bit extreme. Especially since it wasn't like they weren't exposed to it before meeting them in real life. Extra reason here that might be spoiler: ~! So, at some point, they get a robot (Mecha Yozora) that's an exact copy of Liza's cat. It eventually comes to live in their spaceship, and some of the other aliens on the ship learn what cats are sort of like. And yet… When Mithra and Shamil come to meet Yozora, Liza's cat, in the flesh, their reactions are sort of exaggerated. Yes, a cat's cuteness is at its best when experienced at its fluffiest, but…. It's the sort of reaction you'd expect if they *weren't* at all exposed to cats beforehand. Which they were. They already saw the robot copy. When I was watching, I thought it was funny and all, but looking back on it now, I find it kind of overdone. Maybe this was intended for comedic effect or something, or the cuteness just hit that hard. Either way, it doesn't bother me *that* much given that it's just one ep and a minor thing. !~ So yeah, all the points I've made in this section don't *actually* bother me or make me like it less. These are some just some things others may find relevant, stuff I feel like pointing out. Shall we move on? I'm ready to wrap up this review after wasting so much time not being able to work on it. #__Do I recommend?__ Yep, definitely do! Although I wouldn't pressure you to drop everything and start watching. If you feel like you have something more exciting to watch first, go ahead. However, if you're just sitting idly by, nothing to do or watch, looking for an anime… Go on, watch Too Cute Crisis. Especially if you like: - Cats - Watching characters debate about the cutest pet - Watching people nearly die from cuteness - Laughing, smiling, snickering, etc - Chaos, craziness, insanity…you get the point - The idea of being saved from an alien invasion because of cute animals Well? Whatcha waiting for? Get watching! ~~~
