# [~~~**SOL is SOL, There is no spoilers unless you like to go in to shows blind then stay clear of this.**~~~]()
Cute and fun show about a girl who struggles to talk to people. [**PREMISE OF THE SHOW:**]() Hitoribocchi is show that focuses on the daily life of Hitori...Bocchi (yep). It is very clear that she has quite strong Social Anxiety. The whole set up of the show is that before entering Middle School her one and only friend, Kai, has told her that if she doesn't befriend the whole class she is **not worthy** of being friends with her. Not the best thing to say to a person who struggles with such a condition but hey this is a fictional piece of work, I'll let that slide. I think the rest of the show should be pretty clear for you, she goes around trying to befriend people in her class. At first she tries to make it so her class disbands but then actually puts in the effort. There are **many** moments in the show were Bocchi's Anxiety gets blown out of proportion just for the sake of comedy, but honestly I don't feel like that was that bad. If I recall correctly I heard multiple individuals say that they didn't like the show as much cause of this reason but as a person who basically is the male Bocchi I'll say that this was a lot of fun. I watch Anime to escape reality, not to get dragged back into it. I mean it would be cool to see a show that has a deep tone and talks seriously about this but funny is funny. I like funny stuff. ~~~img420(https://66.media.tumblr.com/044f31495e0ea45f8763beb6a435b93e/tumblr_p65s5aE4Db1qimk8ao1_500.gif)~~~
[**CHARACTERS:**]() Due to the nature of this show we are presented with multiple different characters. The I'll be focusing on the main cast though since they are all so lovable: **Hitori Bocchi** - Well I already talked about her quite a bit, she is very anxious and when she gets too happy she faints (or if she gets too anxious she vomits). She is most often seen overthinking and planning ahead how to do normal human things such as saying "Good Morning". **Nako Sunao** - She looks tough and acts like it but is a very friendly and nice person. She is the first friend Bocchi makes. She tries to make Bocchi feel calm and make more friends which is so nice. **Aru Honshou** - The ultimate human form, there is no other human like Aru. She always shines bright, she doesn't lose. ARU!!! Unless she activates her normal mode and becomes the most unfortunate person on the whole planet. She is quite calm but can get upset when people call her unfortunate. **Sotoka Rakita** - Her sole reason for coming to Japan was because she wanted to see Ninjas. Yep, I shit you not. She thinks Bocchi is a master ninja cause she always hides from everyone else. Sotoka is quite lively and energetic, always eager to play. She is also from another country and lives by her self which saddens me :( ~~~img420(https://image.myanimelist.net/ui/DplKD8yaVNrGsWbmOrMAK6OsSspN0RsnIq9EWTZf7rY)~~~
[**ART/ANIMATION:**]() This show has some really cute art style, really fits well with the show and our saviour Bocchi. The animation on the other hand feels more average, it can be really smooth and great at times but mostly its the same ol' we got used to in pretty much every SOL. Not to say its bad but nothing new or groundbreaking like Nichijou and K-On. ~~~img420(https://66.media.tumblr.com/1870d873ed02730f1ec64c1b13f18031/tumblr_pri45mlGCh1sk6fb9_540.gif)~~~
[**MUSIC:**]() The OP, oh lawd is it catchy. I'm even humming and listening to it as I'm writing this review, its cute, catchy, and fits well with the show. What more can you ask for? The ED, is also not bad, I mean the OP is much more catchy and I don't really go back listening to the ED but its not bad. After all of the anxious chaos that occured in the episode we are presented with a calm and relaxing tune. Not bad. There is of course the ED2 (Wa Ha Ha one), my goodness, this is the one that really stuck in my head. Its just perfection. Its like the Chika ED. Catchy for all eternity. ~~~img420(https://i.redd.it/tlovmpo0jzs21.gif)~~~
[**OVERALL OPINION:**]() This show is just filled with cute. My heart melted every time I watched this show. If you like SOL and just cute things then go ahead, watch this show. I could relate to almost everything Bocchi did or thought which is always great, I think. There were also sad moments, they weren't that strong to make me cry but I did shed few tears in the part about Sotoka living alone and feeling lonely.

_[I'd like to believe this isn't important, but this show was watched as it was released week by week, then for this review it was watched at 1 episode per day.]_ Genre: Comedy / Slice-of-Life Also: Cute Girls Doing Cute Things (CGDCT), 4-Koma ~~~__A Perfect Gateway into CGDCT__~~~ Hitoribocchi no Marumaruseikatsu is a simple to understand story. After finishing elementary school, Our titular character, Hitori Bocchi, and her only childhood friend, Kai end up going to different middle schools. Kai gives Hitori Bocchi a very difficult task: Become friends with everyone in her class by the end of middle school, or they will no longer be friends. Hitori Bocchi, whose name literally means "All Alone", is a socially awkward, anxious, and loveable dork. So naturally, the thought of making so many friends frightens her, but she'll try her hardest for Kai! The Show immediately starts going at the 4-koma comedy pace, setting a constant flow of jokes with set-ups and pay-offs and never really letting off the gas except for it's most emotional moments. Each Punchline made me at the very least Smile or Grin, while others made me go "What!?", "How!?, or actually made me laugh. The Comedy has a rather perfect mixture of unpredictability, speed, and style, all done while bocchi tries to accomplish her main goal of making friends, or while she is interacting with her existing ones. This show's Running Gags have just enough variation with time to be endearing and add to the show's charm a lot. The Tone of the show is unrealistically optimistic, but it needs to be. There are no bullies in Bocchi's Class, and most people in bocchi's class are actually rather well-adjusted and nice to her. The enemy of this show instead is Bocchi herself, whose mind often drifts off into worst-case scenarios or things that thwart her goals. While Making new friends comes naturally to many, it's a mountain for Bocchi. To many, the fact that something so mundane is actually so hard will likely resonate with a lot of people, especially others with no or only a few friends, or those that suffer from social anxiety, extreme or not. __This show will be enjoyed dramatically more by people that can put themselves in Bocchi's shoes easily__, I think. And Again, this is why this show is Optimistic *and needs to be*. The Optimistic nature also means it has no intense action, is light on Drama, and has almost no stakes, making it so easily fall into the CGDCT category that I can't delay talking about that anymore. This show is actually a very typical CGDCT. This is a category of show typically aimed at an older, working-class demographic that prefers their entertainment chill them out and relax rather than amaze, scare, or extract a lot of feelings from them. The only difference with Bocchi is that using a socially anxious protagonist actually lowers the age of the demographic, since this trait is very common in Teenagers. So Unlike most CGDCT, where you will definitely not get the appeal if all you watch are the most common action and dramatic-heavy shows, I think teenagers and kids can also get something out of Bocchi, even if it's just a few chuckles and smiles on their faces. The Main way you're going to find out, is by watching it. You'll know what you're getting out of this show in 1 episode, so watch it and find out how you feel about it. ~~~__The Technical Stuff__~~~ I actually never really care about "The Technical Stuff", and none of the Technical stuff ever affects my score unless it's egregious. If a show looks *good enough*, then that's good. If a show *looks* animated enough, then it *is* animated enough. The things I look at most closely are the Characters, how they interact, what they do, and how they all make me feel. Those are what's most important to me in a show, and this show delivers the best in all of those respects. So, Show Looks good, Show animates well, Soundtrack is great with a nice brazillian influence. Nothing looks out of place or weird and there is nice opportunities to see attention to detail in places, including the soundtrack at specific moments. So, as mentioned at the very beginning, I actually already watched this show twice with a very large gap between watching weekly as it aired and watching daily 8 Months Later. The Rewatch Value is the last thing I put into account when scoring a show, and I must say I enjoyed re-watching Bocchi the second time as I did the first time. This is a very big strength, of course, but the better your memory is, the more time you should give it before re-watching, as it is a comedy. ~~~__Verdict__~~~ As mentioned earlier in the review, this show will have a lot more emotional and comedic punch if you've ever been in Bocchi's shoes, in at least some respect, before, and the ability to enjoy a show where pretty much nothing happens is required. That said, even if you can't do either, this show should be an excellent starting point for those looking to dip their toes into CGDCT Comedy. I can recommend this show to anyone who is already in the CGDCT space or is willing to step outside their comfort zone and try it. I definitely don't think this will bore you, as long as you aren't majorly nit-picky or analytical. Just relax and enjoy this one. For consistently putting a smile on my face with an endearing cast and well-paced comedy, I compare this better than most shows, so I'm proud to score it...

From the author of [Mitsuboshi Colors](https://anilist.co/manga/87132/Mitsuboshi-Colors/), [Katsuwo](https://anilist.co/staff/116151/Katsuwo), [Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu](https://anilist.co/anime/101386/Hitoribocchi-no-Marumaru-Seikatsu/) is a [comedy](https://anilist.co/search/anime?genres=Comedy) anime, often taking place at [school](https://anilist.co/search/anime?genres=School). Hitoribocchi, based on a group of middle-school girls, one of them having social anxiety, [Hitori Bocchi](https://anilist.co/character/128986/Bocchi-Hitori), (her name meaning "all alone"). Worried of Bocchi's fear in making new friends, Bocchi's only elementary school friend [Yawara Kai](https://anilist.co/character/128999/Kai-Yawara), (her name meaning "soft"), abandons her until Bocchi manages to befriend the whole class. Hoping she could form the courage to make new friends. The characters define the series. Each feels distinct, has a dynamic playing off each other in unique ways, how Nako interacts with Bocchi is different from how she interacts with Aru. Which sounds obvious yet, it's imperative to comprehend how many series implement a defining trait upon a character matching their entire personality/punchline. Bocchi is shy. It's challenging for her to converse with new people. Bocchi, however, wants to be able to have fun interacting with friends. She does everyday things in quirky ways, doing things like making scripts for daily conversations, only for it to fail. The first friend Bocchi befriends, the fearsome, tough-looking, [Sunao Nako](https://anilist.co/character/128984/Nako-Sunao), (her name meaning "honest child"). She is blunt and straightforward. Nako is usually sweet to Bocchi, but sometimes, she teases her. The second friend Bocchi befriends, the unfortunate, class vice-president, [Honshou Aru](https://anilist.co/character/128987/Aru-Honshou), (her name meaning "having a hidden nature"). Aru displays a facade of her perfect self in front of everyone, but in truth, she's unfortunate, she wears clothes with hangers still attached and mistakenly puts on wrong uniforms. Aru forms a rather fun dynamic with Nako, as she knows Aru's real condition, often making fun of it. Aru, of course, wants to deny it, becoming a running joke throughout the series. The third friend Bocchi befriends, the ninja-loving, foreigner, [Sotoka Rakita](https://anilist.co/character/128993/Sotoka-Rakita), (her name meaning "came from outside"). Sotoka is amazed by ninjas and came to follow Bocchi, thinking what Bocchi does is ninja-like. The framing of Hitoribocchi is notable, a prominent asset for its success. Most [4-koma](https://anilist.co/search/anime?genres=4-koma)'s have a basic premise, used as a vehicle to tell jokes. The absence of an overarching goal often leaves a series feeling aimless, however. Just because it's about [daily life](https://anilist.co/search/anime?genres=Slice%20of%20Life), a show benefits with an endpoint to work towards for narrative structure. Hitoribocchi has an overarching goal, Bocchi needs to befriend everyone in her class, providing the show a driving force, that most other 4-koma's lack. Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu focuses on two parts, the comedy and the heart-warming moments. Regarding comedy, its above average, revolving around Bocchi's awkwardness, Aru being unfortunate, among other things. Hitoribocchi succeeds in creating sweet moments, often relating to Bocchi growing to become more friendly. As Bocchi becomes stronger from gradually making friends, others become influenced by Bocchi. The music does an excellent job, complementing the comedy and sweetness of Hitoribocchi. Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu has light-hearted comedy, keeping you entertained, with sweet scenes, putting smiles on your face. The characters, briefly defined by their names, with personalities extending beyond just names. Hitoribocchi has striking character dynamics coupled with character development in just the right amount. Hitoribocchi is a leading light-hearted show to watch.

# __Conclusão:__ HitoriBocchi é a obra-prima do gênero *MOE.

~~~img500(https://gonzonyan.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/02c4bcdd4923f6683cb849e16f310a8b1554444760_full.jpg)~~~ Have you ever seen an anime so unbelievably adorable that you wish you could cuddle with it for hours on end? Well, there is no shortage of anime that gives off this sensation. The past decade has had no need for Cute Girls Doing Cute Things, or CGDCT for short, to over-saturation. Some have been good, bad, or entirely forgettable. Regardless of quality, they all follow the same formula even when they do a few unique tropes to the characters, narrative, or setting. The only way that I can consider one to be good is if the show manages to be fun to watch from an entertainment aspect and not if it does anything distinctive from other CGDCT anime. Thankfully, Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu, or Hitoribocchi, managed to perk my interest from the 1st episode onward. I don't even know how I can express why I had so much fun watching Hitoribocchi because all of it stems from other CGDCT shows I have seen: everything about it screams festive sugary fun. Is it because the voice acting is what put it over the edge in giving the show its enjoyable energy? The relatable story involving the main girl's social anxiety refusing to let her freely make friends in her new junior high school? The adorable art design is complete eye candy? How about all of the above. ~~~img1000(https://gonzonyan.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/78d3b6f998df65951b3388f82841c2ee1554486596_main.jpg)~~~ The fact that the main character, Bocchi Hitori, is played by a seiyuu's debut leading role shocked me. Chisaki Morishita is perfect in this role. Her hilarious and cute voice inflections she puts on Hitori are so much fun to listen to and see how the animation plays it off. All of the other seiyuus do amazing jobs as well. Minami Tanaka as Nako sells it as the more stoic girl of the main cast. Akari Kito is also hilarious as Aru in her role as a serious senpai who is just as clumsy and forgetful as our main heroine. And Yuuko Kurose does a splendid job as the foreign exchange student Sotoka Rakita. These four main seiyuus made for a fantastic cast that could be the best of the year thus far. Now I won't mince words here. The characters in this show do come across as if they were copy-and-pasted from another slice of life high school anime. You have the foreign exchange blonde girl, the class representative senpai that plays a facade of being dignified, the shy girl, and the unemotional girl. We have been conditioned to see these things so many times that it's not even worth trying to form a critique about for those of us that still watch these and haven't given up on them. If they do not give you any feelings of charm, then that is a sign the girls did not work. With Hitoribocchi, I found all of them to have their unique appeal, whether from their cute and hilarious personalities or whatever antics they do in each episode. ~~~img1000(https://gonzonyan.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/47278638d2e1e86698e19d946df4e49b1555085357_fwide.jpg)~~~ I found Hitori's story an excellent selling point for the show. Her eagerness to try to make friends in her new school to make up for her lack of doing so in her previous school felt relatable. I would not say that it significantly succeeds, as it does seem like they leave that off to the side to focus on other character arcs. But for what those arcs are, I didn't mind them. I thought Aru's arc was the most hilarious out of all of the supporting casts'. While I did feel that Hitori's story could have had more meat to it, it does not necessarily bog down the show too much. We all expect moe shows and CGDCT to have an adorable art style, and Hitoribocchi is no exception. I adored Hitori's design to her hairstyle with that lovely hairpin. Everyone else has a similar look or quirk that fits well and makes them distinctive and memorable. I can't say that for a lot of recent CGDCT anime as of late, that's for sure. ~~~img1000(https://gonzonyan.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/5lyztbvos196gvyvw3zjwpungimsviviok4d7rk_uwlyjebkz74cr46ibxetv4ay.jpg)~~~ Do not be ashamed if you feel giddiness in your body when you see cute girls doing cute things. It is a normal reaction if you have a sensible outlook on the preciousness of life. Although I do not think Hitoribocchi is the cutest CGDCT anime of all time, it certainly is this year I've seen thus far. If you're feeling down and want to see cute girls feel cheerful or maybe see a relatable story of trying to make friends despite your social awkwardness, I can't think of a better anime in recent seasons that can alleviate those feelings. Hitoribocchi no Marumaruseikatsu is about a girl with social anxieties trying to make friends with her entire class in high school in order to reunite with her only friend that she has before entering said high school. Bocchi the main character in the series do not have social anxieties as dire as Komi as she is able to talk to strangers after mustering up a great amount of will power and effort. She is also comfortable talking to people after she have made connections with them. What separates Komi and Bocchi is she is a totally regular normal girl where nobody gives her a second special look, there is no knight in shining armor at her feet helping her achieve her goal of making more friends. Which helps me root for her even more because it is all her own effort and nothing is presented to her on a silver platter. That does not mean the friends she makes along the way does not help her on her quest but they do so in a limited capacity. As a socially awkward person the expected unusual misunderstandings to common social norms are expected and they are delivered excellently in the comedy. The comedy writing direction is really on point as the writers are not afraid to make mundane situations wackier than it seems. There is also a lot of creative ways they play around not only the gimmick of this girl with social anxieties but also with the personalities of the other friends that Bocchi makes along the way. And the writers are not afraid to take risks inserting really stupid stuff for comedic effect sometimes. Just take a look at this 7 second gag that adds literally nothing to the story. youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeVRIuFCBms) When I first saw it I thought it was weird, jarring, unfunny and serve no purpose. Then I thought about it more and... what the hell man that was stupidly funny xD. The cast of characters are diverse and each really stand out both in appearance and personalities. This makes for great potential for a variety of comedic scenarios that feels fresh every single episode. They obviously play well with the Bocchi's awkward social skills but half of the time they do not need to rely on the her the main character to come up with comedic situations because of how distinct each of their personalities are. This means even the side characters interaction with the side characters are amusing. The art and animation was pretty good, nothing too spectacular. The character design is really cute but again nothing too outstanding. What I find they really done well is the exaggerated expressions of the characters reacting to the comedic situations being really cartoony and fun which really help sell the punchlines of the gags. In conclusion, this series is really charming and has many comedic moments. But I will be honest and say that sometimes the gags can fall flat. But nonetheless it is a really cute comedy series that is funny most of the time. Definitely not the best comedy series I watched but it is still really really good overall.
~~~__If you see this text, congratulations! This review should be spoiler free if you haven't watched Hitoribocchi! Wait, you haven't watched it!? That's wild.__ So, the premise of Hitoribocchi is pretty basic. Hitori Bocchi is heading into middle school, but will be separated from her childhood friend Yawara Kai. Bocchi also has very bad social anxiety, to a point where even saying "Hi" is a Dark Souls-esque quest. So Kai's bright idea is to end her friendship with Bocchi until she can befriend everyone in her class in middle school. Once Bocchi succeeds in doing that, they can become friends again. I'll discuss this more later, but that's the basic crap out of the way. Now for the *actual* review!!~~~ #~~~__1. CHARACTERS__~~~ ~~~First and foremost, the characters in Hitoribocchi are nothing short of amazing and memorable. You have the main character, Hitori Bocchi, le funny social anxiety girl. Bocchi is a great character, and has a lot of great moments throughout the series. If you love cute shit, you are going to be FED by watching this show, a five star meal from Gordon Ramsay himself. Her attempts to get over her social anxiety and make new friends to ger her old friend Kai back are heartwarming, and her relationship with the friends she makes is nothing short of beautiful to watch. You also have perhaps the best character in the show, Sunao Nako. She appears tough at first but in reality is a very warm and caring person, especially towards Bocchi. She is Bocchi's first and arguably closest friend. Even though Bocchi is straight up built different, Nako is there for her, and the friendship between these two is one of my favorites across any anime. Excuse me while I _AAAAAAAAAAAA_ img350(https://i.redd.it/41r23k8vkht41.gif) You also have Honshou Aru, who despite mostly being the biggest laughingstock of the entire series, being as unfortunate as she is, is still quite an enjoyable character. Her stupid antics, rivalry of sorts with Nako, and her more chill moments where she can actually be helpful while trying to maintain that perfect image of hers, all mix together for a fun character. Finally we have Sotoka Rakita, who isn't exactly a deep character or anything, there's not much I have to say about her. She came to Japan because of her love for ninjas, and she believes Bocchi to be one. LIke everyone else, she's a very fun character, and she has some nice emotional moments later on in the show that I really loved. There's some more characters, but they aren't really as important to the review. All I can really say is I love basically all of the characters in this series.~~~ #~~~__2. STORY__~~~ ~~~You can call Hitoribocchi one of those fluffy slice of life anime where there's jack shit that happens. I still love what little story there is, though. Allow me to quickly address the elephant in the room, and perhaps the *only* gripe I have with this series at all, and that's how the plot starts to begin with. Remember how Kai basically throws away Bocchi and makes her fend for herself in middle school? I'll say this for sure, what Kai did was a bit questionable. I can kinda understand her side of things to an extent. Bocchi needed a push in order to make friends in middle school, and while this was more of a massive cowboy boot to the ass right into a supervolcano, it was also kinda needed. It's not exactly optimal to rely on your childhood friend you don't even go to school with, and I dunno how long they were friends for, but Bocchi making more friends had to have been out of Kai's control, since this problem was never addressed previously. And besides, the characters in this series are like... 12 I'm pretty sure? Kids do some really stupid shit. As someone who was somehow allowed on the internet at that age, TRUST me, kids do some really stupid shit.~~~ #~~~__3. COMEDY__~~~ ~~~Where do I even begin with this? Hitoribocchi was by far one of the funniest shows I've seen. Nearly every minute of this show had me smiling or laughing. A lot of it came from the Aru Antics™ you see in nearly every episode, they can be downright hillarious at times. Bocchi's moments also provide a lot of comedy. Some might have an issue with Bocchi's social anxiety often being used for comedic relief, but just as the [top review](https://anilist.co/review/4735) says, I don't think it's that bad, and of course it is nice to watch anime to escape reality rather than be dragged back into it. And I can't discuss the comedy without discussing the infamous "wahaha". I loved this gag to death, ngl I might start unironically saying it because how can you resist the wahaha wahaha!!~~~ #~~~__4. ANIMATION__~~~ ~~~The animation for Hitoribocchi is nothing too insane, after all it aint being adapted by ufotable lmao. It's still really well animated in my opinion, and the character designs across this series are some of my favorites. The side characters are meh design wise, not bad but nothing special either, but I love how the main characters look. Bocchi, Aru, Nako, and the others are pretty damn cute. I'm a sucker for cute stuff, and boy does this show deliver.~~~ #~~~__5. MUSIC__~~~ ~~~The music in this show is a bop. The OP is really good and catchy, and I absolutely love the instrumental of the ED, and I find it amazing that there's a special ED dedicated to the wahaha. In this house we wahaha ~~~ #~~~__CONCLUSION__~~~ ~~~Hitoribocchi is an incredibly cute show with its somewhat emotional moments, a ton of wholesomeness and comedy, and a bunch of fun antics that set it apart from most other slice of life anime I've seen that just can't stand the test of being able to watch a full season of absolutely nothing happening. I am proud to say that this is my 2nd favorite anime of all time right now, behind only the goat itself, CLANNAD. You absolutely should give Hitoribocchi a watch especially if you like slice of life.~~~ ~~~img220(https://i.redd.it/isnlm5xqsn861.gif) Have a wahaha for reading this review!~~~ ~~~img300(https://media.tenor.com/JeBTPQ3j3WgAAAAM/hitoribocchi-bocchi.gif) __Watch Hitoribocchi!!!__~~~
