I'm a sucker for a good story and cast, which is exactly why I love this series. It does storytelling and back stories justice! I love the first opening and ending song SO MUCH! The truly embody the spirit of the town functions, most of the characters know each other and have some relationship. I really enjoyed how durarara knew how to give you a taste of a scenario, then when it wants to give you the full context. It allows the viewer to see how all the events in the town are in one way or another connected. Nothing happens in isolation or doesn't affect just ONE character, which is a big reason I loved this show. Now, I always seen the memes and gifs but never watched until like three weeks ago, it was the GREATEST Binge I've ever done. I couldn't stop watching, every episode made me excited for the next episode. I saw why durarara got three seasons now, it was a great story start to finish. I really hated but understood izaya thanks to this arc. Izaya simply wanted to be entertained, he accepts his reality despite all the enemies he makes. He got his wish but was it really worth it? He loves humans, but he really love putting them in situations that could lead to cause all for the sake of seeing their reaction. Which is messed up, but he always had this personality and his occupation is a perfect fit for him. He has to be the best antagonist I've ever witnessed, he had messed up intentions but he didn't act like a saint or messiah, he simply want to see what would happen. Only thing that made him redeemable to me is the fact he owns up to his deceitful personality and didn't try to hide it from anyone especially allies. The icing of the cake for me when it comes to this arc was how everything came to a boiling head. Best friends desperately trying to save each other and town from self destructing, a "monster" trying to regain her memories, izaya preparing the greatest war this town has ever seen and of course, a psychopath seeking her lover. If this was any other show, I'd say too much is going on and there's really no connection between these factions, however durarara knows how to balance things. I can't even call the antagonists all bad people, majority had a bad life and are just trying to get by. All in all, durarara is one of those anime that made me appreciate and enjoy the medium to a WHOLE new level. youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8lZCHQK8LE)
